President's Message

Welcome to website of ICTPA-SCC. I am honored to be elected as the 14th President
of ICTPA-SCC . The installation of our new board of directors was held on July 29th,
2011. I joined this great organization in year 2003, months after I came to the United
States for my graduate study. It has been eight years and when I looked back, I was
stunned and touched to see how fast our organization has grown and how much myself
has grown within it. I highly appreciate the trust of our entire board and all our supporters.
Our new board of directors deeply understand that all we have today started from the
solid foundation laid down my our founding members, past presidents and board
members. We owe everything to all our long time participants and supporters of our
organization.
I want to especially thank Dr. Endi Zhai, the current ICTPA President and the immediate
past president of ICTPA-SCC. His dedication, creativity and leadership help to push
ICTPA-SCC onto a completely new level. The size of our events has been evolved from
30-40 people to more one hundred people in the last two years. We have had a class of
speakers comparable to any main stream transportation professional association in the
regional. We have attracted an audience of ethnic variety. Our workshops have drawn
the attention and coverage of almost all the major Chinese American Media in South
California as well as the industry influential journals such as ENR.
The transportation project opportunity in Southern California is thriving. For example, as
a transportation planner working on six different transit corridor studies, I am thrilled by
the aggressive urban rail expansion plan by LA Metro. Southern California is notorious
for its dependency on auto and severe congestion. We have many opportunities to
improve our transportation efficiency and mobility through new innovations in research,
policy, planning, design, construction, operation and management. This is a prime stage
for our Chinese Engineers to utilize and demonstrate our talents and expertise.
The goal of the new board is to 1) provide a platform for Chinese transportation
engineers to exchange professional knowledge and experience; 2) encourage and help
more Chinese engineers pursue business development and management role within
their organizations; 3) enhance the joint venture of Chinese owned engineering firms; 4)
promote the exposure and power of the entire Chinese transportation engineer society;
5) encourage public participation in transportation projects among the Chinese
American community. I believe that all these goals will be reached by the joint efforts of
our new board and our supporters.
